Torchbearer Sauces began with a spark of curiosity and a love of fearless flavors. Vid Lynch, the founder, discovered his passion for heat during a high school farewell party in Pennsylvania. While enjoying BBQ chicken, a friend poured an intensely hot extract sauce over his meal. Vid joined in, and from that moment, he was hooked on bold, adventurous sauces.
Years later, Vid and his friend Ben—who would later become his business partner—found themselves with a surplus of habanero peppers and no clear plan. On September 21, 2004, they decided to preserve the peppers with carrots, mandarin oranges, and onions. The result was Super Fancy Sultry #7, the first Torchbearer sauce, sparking a movement of small-batch, flavor-forward hot sauces that combine creativity, heat, and quality ingredients.
