The Torchbearer Story
Torchbearer Sauces began with a spark of curiosity and a lifelong love for spicy food. Vid Lynch, the founder, discovered his obsession with heat during a high school farewell party in Pennsylvania. A friend poured a wildly hot extract sauce over BBQ chicken, and Vid, intrigued, joined in. That one fiery moment ignited a passion that has driven him ever since.
Years later, Vid and his friend Ben—who would become his business partner—each harvested crops of habanero peppers with no clear idea what to do with them. On September 21, 2004, they preserved the peppers by blending them with carrots, mandarin oranges, and onions. The result was Super Fancy Sultry #7, the first Torchbearer creation. Friends and family fell in love, and the name Torchbearer—borrowed from Vid’s photography and video production company—was the perfect fit for their growing passion: carrying the torch for small-batch, flavorful, and fearless hot sauces.
