The Torchbearer Story

Torchbearer Sauces began with a spark of curiosity and a passion for fiery food. Founder Vid Lynch discovered his love for extreme heat during a high school farewell party in Pennsylvania. While enjoying BBQ chicken, a friend began pouring a wildly hot extract-based sauce over his meal. Curious and fearless, Vid followed suit—and from that moment on he was hooked on pushing the limits of spicy flavor.

Years later, Vid and his friend Ben—who would later become his business partner—each found themselves with a large harvest of habanero peppers and no clear idea what to do with them. On September 21, 2004, they decided to preserve their peppers by bottling them with carrots, mandarin oranges, and onions. The result was unexpectedly incredible, producing a flavorful sauce that became their first creation, Super Fancy Sultry #7.

Friends and family loved it so much that Vid and Ben realized they might have something special. The name Torchbearer Sauces came naturally, inspired by Vid’s photography and video production company. It perfectly captured the spirit of their mission: carrying the torch for bold ingredients, creative recipes, and handcrafted sauces with serious personality.
